Rotterdam: At least two people were wounded as Dutch police clashed with protesters who were demonstrating in Rotterdam city over new Covid-19 measures.

The protest reportedly turned violent as demonstrators threw rocks and fireworks at the policemen and set police cars ablaze.

Hundreds of protesters had gathered to show their anger at government plans for a Covid vaccine pass, and a ban on fireworks on New Year's Eve, reports BBC.

The government imposed a three-week partial lockdown in the country as COVID-19 cases increased.

The city was placed under a state of emergency and its main train station closed as a result of the violence, reports BBC.
