Taliban attack repulsed, 10 killed in Afghanistan's eastern Ghazni

Ghazni, Apr 7 (Xinhua/UNI) A total of 10 militants have been killed and Taliban offensive to overrun checkpoints around Ghazni city has been repulsed, said an army statement released here Sunday.

A group of militants launched offensives to capture checkpoints in Zargar and Antan areas in the outskirts of Ghazni city, the capital of the eastern Ghazni province, early Sunday, but their attempts have been repulsed after the security forces around returned fire, forcing them to flee after leaving 10 bodies behind, the statement said.

Six more militants have been injured, the statement said, adding cleanup operations are going on.

Taliban militants who are active in parts of Ghazni province, are yet to make comment on the report.
