Over 20 people were injured as a vehicle drove into a crowd in Los Angeles' East Hollywood, the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD).

Five people are said to be critical, while around 8-10 people are in serious condition and 10-15 in fair condition, the department said on Saturday.

The incident took place on Santa Monica Boulevard.

In a statement, the LAFD said it is coordinating patient triage and transport at this time.

According to the Los Angeles City Fire Department, the vehicle rammed into a crowd of people waiting to enter a nightclub along a busy boulevard in Los Angeles.

Victims were transported to hospitals and trauma centres.

The majority of the victims were females as they were waiting to enter a nightclub when the Nissan Versa struck them, along with a taco truck and a valet stand.

However, paramedics found that one of the patients had a gunshot wound. People inside the nightclubs came out to help the victims.
