An Indian-origin student died in the United States after he misfired his gun during birthday celebration.

The incident reportedly happened on November 13 in Atlanta, Georgia.

Aryan Reddy, a native of Telangana's Uppal, was reportedly studying at Georgia State University in the USA.

According to reports, during the birthday celebration, he picked out the gun to clean it

He ended up accidentally firing a bullet which hit his chest, officials told NDTV.

His friends reportedly took him to a hospital for treatment where he was declared brought dead.

Aryan Reddy had gained a hunting licence in the USA.

Aryan’s father, Sudarshan Reddy, told India Today: "We were unaware that students could acquire hunting gun licences there. No parent should ever face such a tragedy."

According to reports, Reddy's body will be flown to India soon.
