Durga Puja in Calgary

| | Oct 13, 2016, at 01:43 am
Calgary, Oct 12(IBNS): With much fanfare Durga Puja has been celebrated in Calgary.

There were two Pujas being organised, one under the banner of Calgary Bangiya Parishad and Calgary Amra Sabai.

The former was held in the very popular community Hall in the northwest part of Calgary called Genesis Centre and the latter was worshipped at Chestermere Community Centre which was little far from the city of Calgary.

On the day of Mahashasti there was snow fall in the city and on the day of Mahasaptami there was a dense fog and freezing rain, but the inclement weather could not dampen the spirit of the local Bengalis, who had been waiting avidly throughout the year for these four days.

The Puja was followed by social programmes like recitation, stage show, songs, dance and single act plays.

Apart from Bengali community other communities also visited and took part in the show.
