Filmmaker Srijit Mukherjee launches Sreemoyee Piu Kundu's new novel in Kolkata

Kolkata, Feb 11 (IBNS): Tollywood filmmaker Srijit Mukherjee launched author Sreemoyee Piu Kundu's latest novel 'You’ve Got the Wrong Girl', here on Wednesday.

Also present in the event were actors Joy Sengupta and Ekavali Khanna and scenographer Swarup Dutta.

The novel was introduced by Swarup Dutta while Srijit Mukherjee acted as the moderator and Joy Sengupta and Ekavali Khanna read excerpts from the novel.

The novel, a racy encounter between the leads, Dushyant Singh Rathore and his lady love, featured against the backdrop of Sonagachi, Asia's largest red-light zone, is a modern adaptation of Sanskrit poet Kalidasa's classic romantic saga Abhigyanam Shakuntalam.

The author briefed on her previous novels ‘Faraway Music' (2013) & ‘Sita’s Curse' (2014) an erotic fiction launched in May 2014.

 
Later, Srijit updated the audience about his upcoming film ‘Zulfiqar’ which casts Prosenjit Chatterjee along with Dev, Jisshu Sengupta, Ankush Hazra, Parambrata Chatterjee, Kaushik Sen, Rudranil Ghosh, Kanchan Mullick, June Maliah, Kyra Dutt, Nusrat Jahan and Paoli Dam.

The film is based on Shakespeare’s two narrative tragedies- ‘Julius Caesar’ and ‘Antony and Cleopatra’.

The trailer of the movie, which first featured on Facebook was also revealed.
