The doodle has been designed by Mumbai-based artist Sabeena Karnik.

It is depicting one of the India's most significant and iconic buildings- the Parliament House.

In the special doodle, one can find colors of the national flag with a saffron Parliament House, peacock the national bird on the side and the Ashoka Chakra in the centre of it.

Speaking on the doodle, the Google website said: "To honor the anniversary, Mumbai-based artist Sabeena Karnik used a unique paper-cut art style to create a Doodle fit for the bold and colorful celebration of today’s events. The Parliament House depicted in her work commemorates this day, this movement, and this triumph of independence."

Google decorates its homepage with beautiful doodles on special days, birth anniversaries of important personalities and special events like World Cup.
