New Delhi, June 17 (IBNS): Sons and daughters dedicated Sunday to their fathers as the world celebrated Father's Day with love and fervour.

In his message for the day, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted:

Popular search engine Google also paid its tribute to fathers and the bond with their children.

Google posted a playful doodle this year which depicts colorful hand prints that closely resemble a dinosaurs family or two.

The doodle suggests the bond between the family and the father, who is entrusted with the role of protecting the same.

The third Sunday of June is dedicated to celebrate Father’s Day all across the globe as sons and daughters recognize the contribution that fathers in their lives.

It is said that Father’s day was first observed way back in 1908, in Fairmont in West Virginia in the Williams Memorial Methodist Episcopal Church South.

On this day, children also present cards and gifts to their fathers and convey their respects for holding such an important position in their lives.

Now-a-days it is a more social media affair with children remembering their father in umpteen ways.

Several important personalities posted their thoughts for the day on Twitter.
