J&K students' fee waived off for Company Secretary course: Dr. Jitendra Singh

Srinagar: Jammu & Kashmir and Northeast students have been provided with the special facility of academic fee waiver for registration to the course of training as Company Secretary.

Disclosing this here today while delivering the inaugural address at a Webinar on “Economic Revival through Capital Markets post-COVID -19” organized by the "Institute of Company Secretaries of India" (ICSI) and attended by thousands of Company Secretaries and students from across India, Dr Jitendra Singh complimented the Chairman of North Indian Regional Council- Institute of Company Secretaries (NIRCICSI) Suresh Pande, President ICSI Ashish Garg, Council Member Praveen Soni and other office bearers of the ICSI for this special gesture of fee-waiver scheme for students of the two Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, all the eight States of North Eastern region, the hill State of Himachal Pradesh and the island territories of Andaman & Nicobar and Lakshwdeep.

He said, this will help promote excellence and empowerment of the youth from these peripheral States and Union Territories.

The Union Minister said that under the able leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is destined to emerge as the global leader in post - COVID-19 world economy.

He said that the preemptive steps taken by the Indian government in enforcing earliest lock down saved many lives and further damage to the Indian economy. The lockdown period has taught us many lessons of life and this adversity offers us an opportunity.

Speaking about the role of North-Eastern Region in Indian economy, Dr Jitendra Singh said that the region will emerge as an alternative to the European tourist destinations post-COVID-19 as there were only a few COVID-19 cases found in this region due to timely lock-down in the area.

Dr Jitendra Singh said that North-Eastern Region will be one of the favourite business destinations of India post COVID-19 and Bamboo is going to be the key pillar of the economic activities.

Describing Bamboo as a silver lining in the dark clouds of pandemic, he said it will help in shaping the economy of North East and the entire country in postCOVID era.

The minister said that the North East region is going to play a very vital role in reviving the Indian economy post COVID-19 and its development will work as a “New engine” to the economy.

Appreciating the role of the Company Secretaries in building and maintaining the country’s economic growth, Dr. Jitendra Singh said that such webinar will empower the students of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) and will boost their morale in participating in the development of India by giving their valuable inputs in business policies.

The Minister hoped that the valuable contribution of the participants will help the stakeholders in transforming the Indian economy. CS Ashish Garg, President ICSI, Suresh Pande ,Chairman ICSI and other prominent speakers addressed the webinar.
