Kolkata/IBNS: Kolkata-based The Logical Lamp aims to introduce the city’s children to the new educational approach called STEM.

S.T.E.M stands for Science Technology Engineering and Maths.

According to Britannica.com, ‘STEM has grown to represent a unique approach to teaching and learning, one that centers around individual students' learning styles and interests. STEM is a direct response to the realization that our future will be built on our capacity for innovation, invention, and creative problem solving.’

Surbhi Bagla and Gaurav Bagla, founders of The Logical Lamp, said their interest in the subject was aroused after observing their son's interest in STEM activities.

“After researching on STEM education, we realized its importance and decided to build the first systematic STEM Education Academy in Kolkata,” they said.

All the activities are designed to involve collaboration and team effort, they said.

A STEM-based curriculum helps students to expand their practical knowledge in the modern day fields of science, computer and technology and explore the ever-expanding career opportunities, the institute said in a release.

The academy integrates the core five principles of STEAM – Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (now Art is also a part of stem) – which follows an accelerating, child-centric and student-friendly education pattern, they said.
