Kolkata, Feb 6 (IBNS): La Maison Des Délices, a Kolkata based restaurant that offers a range of continental cuisine highlighting French, Italian and conventional European styles, announced the introduction of an exclusive range of Mediterranean fare in their menu recently.

The restaurant is now offering gastronomes a taste of the Mediterranean sub tropics in their new menu under the Mediterranean sun near Gariahat area. Mediterranean cuisine is characterised by the cultures that dot the Mediterranean Sea.

Some of exclusive Mediterranean cuisines that are to be served by the restaurant includes the cold mezze( typical Turkish, Lebanese and Greek starter consisting of olives, tahini, hummus, fresh salad and pita), shish taouk, lahem meshwi (traditional Eastern Mediterranean lamb kebab sever with a fresh yogurt dip and salad), tabuk bifftek (Mediterranean marinated char grilled breast of chicken server with feta and salad), samek harra, meatball pizza, pizza made with a traditional pizza sauce and Swedish meat balls, bhetki & spinach cheese melt and lamb shank (lamb braised with rosemary, sage and thyme butter served with a silky red wine just served with herb rice and vegetables).

Speaking about the new menu, Partha Sarathi Bose, owner said, “Foods in Mediterranean regions have some complicated names. But Indian-food buffs who are used to lentils and bread or rice on their plate each day, will find Mediterranean cuisine quite welcoming, both to the eyes, and the palate.”

The new menu, Under the Mediterranean Sun, has been crafted by head Chef Chiradeep Pal and Executive Chef Riju Dey.

Discussing this innovative move, Chef Riju Dey said, “This is going to be a part of our regular menu along with our speciality, French and Italian cuisines. If you follow the map, countries like Spain, Turkey and Lebanon, all of these countries are almost in the same region. We are focusing on the cuisines of this particular region, as dishes like samek harra, cold mezze are delicacies of Lebanon. We expect that the food lovers of our city to like this innovative move of ours.”
