Mumbai, Feb 4 (IBNS): For the summer/resort 2018 season, there can be nothing more glamorous than luxurious ethnic wear. The label ‘Lajjoo C’ started in 1999 by Lajjoo Kapur has been dressing the connoisseurs of fashion in her artistic creations.

Called “Ode To Mumbai’ from an urban woman to her city, Lajjoo C. with her debut show at 6Degree during Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2018, offered a gracious look for the Indian trend setters. The designer’s fashion directions revolved around an old world charm.

The show opened with a poetry recitation and the solo saxophone Merlin D’Souza in the background as the models walked down the ramp.

Gorgeous embellishments, lush fabrics like fine silks, and organzas were in earthy tones of rust, beige, ivory and neon citric lime. The brocades were lovingly created in Benaras and appeared in metallic tones to add a rare, rich quality to the ensembles. The traditional, fashionable creations that moved from saris to Farsi pants, kurtas, lehengas and floor-kissing anarkalis dazzled on the runway.

Embroidery techniques were the focal point of the garments, with zardosi, badla, marori along with sequins and Resham work that added to the drama of the creations. The addition of stripes added a sporty touch to the garments. The elegant jackets, swirling blouses, long brocade skirts and separates were a grand offering against the backdrop of a video that projected a poetic montage of shots.

The show stopping creation was a silk marori-embroidered olive green lehenga with a cutwork hemline, matching mirror-studded blouse and Chand Bala organza dupatta that stole the hearts of the ladies in the audience.

When it is fashion grandeur that women long for, then the label ‘Lajjoo C’ by Lajjoo Kapur’s collection “Ode to Mumbai” had a list of stylish and romantic creations.
