Nagaland's cultural heritage receives a boost, as Lidi Kro-U, a woman-led group, endeavors to revive and promote the traditional practices and values of the Angami Naga culture.

In an attempt to combat the detachment of the younger generation from their cultural roots, Lidi Kro-U organizes hands-on training sessions in various traditional activities, such as bamboo basket weaving, headgear making, rice winnowing, and the weaving of traditional shawls, stated Northeast Weekly.

The group conducts workshops, training programs, and documentation efforts to preserve folk music, folk songs, drama, and other cultural resources.

Established in 2012, Lidi Kro-U's vision is centered around promoting Naga culture through diverse programs, imparting knowledge to younger generations, and safeguarding the rich cultural heritage for the future.

To further these goals, the organization aims to establish a cultural institute in Nagaland that will educate young people about the significance of their culture and help them forge a deeper connection with their roots.

The outstanding efforts of Lidi Kro-U were recognized inNovember 2022 when they were featured on the 95th episode of Mann Ki Baat, a popular radio program hosted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

During the broadcast, the Prime Minister commended the organization for its dedication to promoting the vibrant Naga culture and heritage.

Acknowledging the significance of preserving cultural heritage, schools and colleges in Nagaland have started inviting cultural experts and leaders as esteemed guests to educate and train students on various aspects of Nagaland's rich culture.

On the occasion of the 100th episode of Mann ki Baat, Lidi Kro-U expressed heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Modi for his unwavering support and urged the government to continue its efforts in supporting, promoting, and safeguarding the cultural heritage of Nagaland and all tribal communities.

Lidi Kro-U firmly believes that a profound understanding of cultural heritage has the potential to foster stronger bonds among communities and societies.
