Maha Panchami ushers in Durga Puja festivity
Kolkata, Oct 18 (IBNS): Putting an end to the year-long wait, the annual festival of the Hindus, especially the Bengali community-Durga Puja, finally arrived on Sunday which marks the day of Maha Panchami.
In fact, this year the festivity started from Saturday, which was Maha Chaturthi.
Although rituals allow the unveiling of Goddess Durga on Maha Shashti, festive frenzy Bengalis have already begun pandal hopping.
In Kolkata, the rush has been spotted mainly in Deshapriya Park in the southern part of the city where the "world's tallest Durga idol" has been unveiled on Friday, which is a 80-feet tall fibre-glass Durga idol.
Several marquees are inaugurated by eminent personalities on Maha Panchami.
It is finally the time for all the Bengalis to begin their mood of festivity from Sunday and continue the same feeling of joy in the coming five days.
