Nagaland: Women trained on jacquard handloom weaving

Wokha district administration, in collaboration with the North Eastern Handicrafts and Handlooms Development Corporation Limited (NEHHDC), Guwahati and Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Task Force, recently flagged off a batch of women for  specialized residential skill training on Jacquard Handloom at Deputy Commissioner Conference Hall.

According to DIPR, the initiative was aimed to enhance and improve the quality of the handloom weaving sector in Wokha district through skilling and capacity-building efforts and to provide sustainable livelihood and employment opportunities for the women of Wokha district, reports Nagaland Post.

The training aimed to empower women on equipping them with the necessary skills and expertise in the art of Jacquard Handloom Weaving.

At the programme, MGNF& I/C- Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Wokha, Anuranjan Singh, speaking on the aims & objectives of the specialized skill training programme, said that it was the collaborative initiative between the district administration, Wokha, and NEHHDC, Guwahati aimed to elevate the handloom sector’s quality standards to meet domestic and global demands, the newspaper reported.
