NEET-2020 held at 67 centres in Kashmir
Srinagar: The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test 2020 (Undergraduate) was held in Kashmir on Sunday amid stringent precautions and social distancing measures taken due to pandemic.
As per official figures, as many as 15,97,433 students had registered for the test across India including 25000 from Kashmir.
The NTA had set up 67 exam centres for the Valley students in Kashmir which was coordinated by the management of Delhi Public School (DPS) Srinagar.
Regional coordinator Abdul Qayoom said that around 57 exam centres were designated in Srinagar district and five each exam were set up in Ganderbal and Budgam district.
“We had made elaborate arrangements as per the NTA guidelines. Students and their parents cooperated and followed social distancing and other covid19 precautionary measures,” Qayoom said.
He said the exam was conducted smoothly at all the exam centres.
Around 20,137 students had been allotted centres in 57 institutions in Srinagar. Out of them, 18,689 reported while 1448 remained absent. The cumulative attendance at Srinagar centres was 92.8.
The NTA had directed the examination staff to provide fresh facemasks and hand gloves to the candidates. The NTA had has also prepared comprehensive advisory regarding the covid19 for all functionaries for centre management.
The district administration had designated a magistrate for all 57 centres in Srinagar to facilitate students’ attendance.
At one centre at Islamia College of Science and Commerce Srinagar, out of 300 students 13 were marked absent.
“The examination was conducted strictly as per set norms and procedures. All protocols of covid19 were followed in letter and spirit,” Principal of the college, Prof Sheikh Aijaz Ahmad said.
DDC Srinagar Dr Shahid Iqbal Chaudhary also visited the exam centre to take a review of the arrangements.
