'Prayash' unfolds the tales of Indian Tradition into sarees

Kolkata, Sep 9 (IBNS): Fashion designer Santanu Guha Thakurta showcased avant-garde 'Naksha', a collection of beautiful hand-crafted sarees, in association with Shyam Sundar Co Jewellers.

Speaking on the occasion, designer Santanu Guha Thakurta said, “Since childhood I am very passionate about paintings and designing. I like creating Different styles of art and texture on sarees."

He added, "My canvas always is tussar, raw silk and my creations are the fusion of traditional art forms of India. My label ‘Prayash’ is an effort to salute the royal heritage of India.”

The rendezvous with colours, fashion and music revived the traditional art form of India was held at ICCR in the esteemed presence of danseuse Alokananda Roy, film director Sudeshna Roy and fashion designer Richa Sharma.

A unique fashion theatre was held introducing the label ‘Prayash’ by the designer wherein city model Rukmini Maitra, the showstopper, enacted Goddess Durga.

Portraying creativity, models conveyed four different looks along with the variety of jewellery collection sponsored by Shyam Sundar Co Jewellers.

Mahabharata collection-This look conveys the tales of Draupadi and her five Pandavas along with the jewellery line of Bishnupur collection.

Nakshikantha collection- Models appeared in Nakshikantha sarees along with Nakshikantha line of gold jewellery collection.

Madhubani collection- Madhubani, the famous art form based out of Madhuban, Bihar and the paintings on the sarees conveyed the stories of Radha Krishna.Models conveyed the traditional looks of Bengal along with the Madhubani jewellery collection.

Durga collection- This collection is inspired by ‘ Potus’ and their marvellous contribution towards the art form of Bengal. The concoction of pure Tussar with a rich colour palette showcased the various aspects of Durga Puja. The gold jewellery added more sparkle to the fashion Theatre.
