Vaishali Kala Kendra and Trinayan collective celebrate Navratri through 'Ek Prayas'
Kolkata/IBNS: Vaishali Kala Kendra, promoter of Odissi dance/music, and Trinayan collective, a New Jersey and New York-based art and culture organisation, hosted an online event- 'Ek Prayaas' - to celebrate Navratri.
The event held on Oct 12 started with 'Devi Bhajans' and a welcome speech by Isha Das and Jyoti Srivastava, Founder of Vaishali Kala Kendra.
The first performance of this online festive event was by the young learners, following which Siddharth Kishore presented Devi Bhajans in Sanskrit, Oriya, and Hindi amongst various other languages.
Bani Ray, an Odissi exponent from the USA, performed an Agomoni song to welcome Goddess Durga.
Jyoti Srivastava with her own choreography presented the song 'Bajlo Tomar Alor Benu' that enthralled the online audience. After performances on Durga Stuti and Durga Bhajan, the final presentation was held on Dandiya.
Guest of the evening, Amarendra Das, said: "Durga Puja is about worshipping Shakti, which means power. I always feel a positive energy during the Puja. And in the last 25 years I always attended Jyoti Srivastava's program and I saw how Jyoti Shrivastava trained her students. She always treats her students like a mother does and nurtures their talents."
