Houston: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is addressing in Houston an event called 'Howdy Modi' on Sunday where US President Donald Trump is joining the Indian Prime Minister in a show of solidarity. Organised by Texas India Forum, some 50,000 people are participating in the mega event which is historic as for the first time a US President and an Indian Prime Minister are jointly addressing a rally like this.

Howdy Modi is a community summit hosted by Texas India Forum (TIF) for Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas at 10 am US time. Over 50,000 attendees have registered in three weeks for the sold-out event though online registration, waitlist registration for free passes is still open. The live audience will be the largest gathering for an invited foreign leader visiting the United States other than the Pope. The “Howdy Modi” summit has been organized with the support of more than 1,000 volunteers and 650 Texas-based Welcome Partner organizations. 'Howdy, Modi' is likely to end at 11:30 pm (India time) following which the Prime Minister is likely to join a private community reception. Modi would then fly to New York to attend the 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA)
The White House said in a statement: "Howdy, Modi!" will be a "great opportunity to emphasize the strong ties between the people of the United States and India, to reaffirm the strategic partnership between the world's oldest and largest democracies, and to discuss ways to deepen their energy and trade relationship."
