The unprecedented political crisis in Bangladesh spiralled out as Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina fled the country in military helicopter while her residence in Dhaka was stormed by mobs. She has left for political asylum outside the country. Her first stop is India and she might head for London thereon according to reports. Bangladesh's army chief Waker-Uz-Zaman addressed the nation and announced formation of an interim government. The latest round of clashes has left around 98 people dead and scores of others injured with the government once again imposing curfew from Sunday to control the situation. As Hasina fled, people stormed into her residence and started looting. The death toll since July in the protests is over 300, said reports.

Two Hindu councillors were among the 100 people killed in Sunday’s violent clashes across Bangladesh that also witnessed the vandalisation of several homes and temples of Hindus, including ISKCON and Kali temples, forcing devotees to seek shelter, local media reports said.

Bangladesh leader Sheikh Hasina met National Security Advisor Ajit Doval Monday evening after landing at the Hindon Air Force base in Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad, which is around 30 km from Delhi.

Hasina is expected to leave for London later, media reports said.

Bangladesh's leading daily Dhaka Tribune quoting sources said she is heading to West Bengal state of India. But the news has not been verified. Reports said the UK and India are not among the countries she is heading as they both denied access. There are also reports of Belarus being her asylum. But no report is verified. 

Sheikh Hasina intended to record a speech before her departure but did not get the opportunity to do so, the newspaper reported.

According to reports, Hasina and her sister left the official residence in an army helicopter. People stormed her residence.
