Shootings in New Zealand mosques kill at least 49
At least 40 people were killed and many injured at two Christchurch mosques in shootings by gunmen who stormed inside the premises in the worst terror attack in New Zealand . The shootings occurred at two mosques - one at Deans Avenue and the other at Linwood Avenue - in Christchurch. With the death toll in mosque shootings in New Zealand's Christchurch rising to about 40, New Zealand's Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern held a press conference about the carnage in the country's east coast city of Christchurch and termed the incident one of New Zealand's darkest days. "It is clear that this is one of New Zealand's darkest days. What has happened here is an extraordinary and unprecedented act of violence," Ardern told reporters. "For now my thoughts and I'm sure the thoughts of all New Zealanders are with those who have been affected and also with the families," Ardern added.
Police can now confirm the lock down of schools throughout Christchurch has been lifted. We would like to reassure members of the public that there is a large Police presence in the city and the safety of the community is our priority.

This has been done deliberately to also demonize legitimate Muslim political struggles. https://t.co/5bBREoayLz

These people have absolutely no place in New Zealand: PM Arden on mosque shooting
Mar 15, 2019, at 12:54 pmNew Zeland Herald quoted the Prime Minister saying, "It is clear that this can only be described as a terrorist attack. From what we know, it does appear to have been well planned. Two explosive devices attached to suspects' vehicles have been found and they have been disarmed."
Those in custody had not been on any terrorism watch list: "It's not a matter of someone having slipped under the radar," Ardern said.
"There are currently four individuals who have been apprehended but three are connected to this attack and are currently in custody, one of which has publicly stated that they were Australian born.
"These are people who I would describe as having extremist views that have absolutely no place in New Zealand and in fact have no place in the world," she said, according to NZ Herald.
The person who has committed this violent act has no place here. To those in Christchurch; I encourage you to stay inside and follow the instructions of @nzpolice. The Police Commissioner will be making a public statement at 5pm. I will update everyone again later this evening.
