3rd T20I: Yuvraj, Raina pull off a nail-biting win, clinch series 3-0

Sydney, Jan 31 (IBNS) Yuvraj Singh and Suresh Raina pulled off a humdinger of a game as India won the final match of the T20I series by 7 wickets beating hosts Australia here on Sunday.

Needing 17 runs in the last over to chase down the target of 198 runs, Yuvraj smashed the first ball for a four and then tonked the next into the stands to bring down the equation to 7 off 4 balls.

With 2 runs needed in the last balls, Raina went over the infield to hit a four and hand India a win.

Starting out the chase, the Indian openers made a blistering start, scoring 46 runs off 3.3 overs.

Shikhar Dhawan started off aggressively, scoring 26 runs off 9 balls. His innings was laden with 4 fours and a six.

Sharma scored 52 off 38 balls and hit 5 fours and a six.

After the departure of Dhawan, Sharma and Kohli stitched together a partnership of 78 runs for the second wicket.

Kohli too scored a fifty, thereby creating a record, scoring 7 fifties in 8 games, going past the likes of Sunil Gavaskar and Sachin Tendulkar.

After Kohli departed, Raina put together a 53 run partnership with Yuvraj Singh, who found it difficult to get going initially.

Raina (49) and Yuvraj (15) remained unbeaten.

Shane Watson was adjudged the man of the match.

Virat Kohli was adjudthe man of the series.

Receiving the trophy Kohli said, "Credit goes to the whole team. We bowled, batted and fielded really well."

"Wanted to finish off the game, but the way Yuvi and Raina did it was really great."

"Would like to think so. Would go with than mindset."

Mahendra Singh Dhoni said, "A lot of credit to the bowler. Bumrah and Ashish did well."

"Most likely this side to play, maybe a change or two."

"Need overs from part-timers."

"There will be time when you will not score runs, so when you are scoring runs, keep scoring."
   
By virtue of the win, India end at the top spot in the latest ICC T20I rankings.
