4 Russians held, drugs worth Rs 7 lakh seized in Goa

Panaji, Feb 23 (UNI/IBNS) : Goa Police has arrested four Russians and seized drugs worth Rs seven lakh from them.

According to police, based on specific and reliable information on February 22, 2019, a raid was conducted wherein one Ilia Alexsandrovich Shtennikov (30), a Russian national, was found illegally cultivating cannabis plants in his rented apartment.

A case was registered at Pernem Police Station in North Goa under section 20(a)(i) of NDPS Act, 1985, was registered and cannabis plants weighing 608 grams amounting Rs 65,000 were seized. Shtennikov was arrested and during course of interrogation it was revealed that there were some foreigners staying in a particular house at Danoswada, Mandrem, and also suspected to be dealing in narcotics drugs.

The house was identified and a search was conducted. It was found that three more Russians were staying in the house and dealing in drugs.
