50 children fall ill after eating ice cream

Nagapattinam, Apr 22 (UNI): More than 50 children fell ill after reportedly eating ice cream during the consecration of the famous Arulmigu Renuga Devi Amman Temple at Vangiri village near Sirkazhi, here on Monday.

Police said the children complained of stomach ache, vomiting and dizziness after eating ice cream sold by merchants during the temple festival.

The children were admitted to the government hospitals at Sirkazhi and Mayiladuthurai.

The children were recovering from the sickness and out of danger.

Investigations were on to ascertain the cause of illness.
