57 pct voters' turnout recorded till 5 pm in UP fourth phase polling

Lucknow/UNI: A total of 57.45 per cent of 2.13 crore voters exercised their franchise till 5 pm for 59 seats spread over nine districts in the fourth phase of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections on Wednesday.

According to the Chief Electoral Officer, the maximum 62.42 per cent turnout was recorded in Lakhimpur Kheri while Unnao saw 54.05 per cent.

Among other districts, 61.33 per cent polling took place in Pilibhit, 58.39 per cent in Sitapur, 55.29 per cent in Hardoi, 55.08 per cent in Lucknow, 58.40 per cent in Rae Bareli, 57.54 per cent in Banda and 57.02 per cent in Fatehpur.

Reports said that a poll staff suffered a heart attack in the Dhaurahra assembly constituency and was admitted to the district hospital.
