73rd I-Day celebrated in BSF Guwahati Frontier
Guwahati, Aug 15 (IBNS): The Guwahati Frontier of Border Security Force on Thursday celebrated 73rd Independence Day at Patgaon, Guwahati with great enthusiasm and fervour.
Piyush Mordia, Inspector General of the Frontier unfurled the national flag.
He addressed the Seema Praharies including personnel of 1st NDRF and reminded them of the supreme sacrifices made by the freedom fighters of our great nation in giving us this freedom.
He called upon the troops to make efforts to protect the territorial integrity of the nation.
He also added that we should always adhere to the ethos of unity in diversity and urged upon the troops to contribute to the society through various society oriented programs like the civic action programs, medical camps etc.
During his address Inspector General congratulated all recipients of “Police Medal for Meritorious Service” on the occasion of Independence Day-2019.
Piyush Mordia also conveyed his greetings to all members of the Force and their families.
He also visited patients at BSF Hospital to distribute sweets and wished them for their early recovery.
Independence Day was also celebrated at BSF Sectors/Battalions located at District South Salmara, Dhubri (Assam) and Coochbehar (West Bengal).
A BSF foot contingent including BSF band participated in the State March-Past event organized at Stadium Khanapara by the Assam government.
During the celebration of Independence Day various cultural programme and Bada-Khana organized by BSF for Seema Praharies.
After the flag hoisting ceremony sweets were distributed amongst the border population.
In view of the Independence Day celebrations, tight security and vigil at the International border was maintained.
Special operations were also launched along the border to ensure incident free celebration.
The IG BSF lauded the troops guarding the border inspite of tough and treacherous terrain defying the weather conditions in remote areas of District South Salmara, Dhubri (Assam) and Coochbehar (West Bengal).
