Actress Urmila Matondkar joins Congress ahead of Lok Sabha polls
New Delhi, Mar 27 (IBNS): After veteran Jaya Prada joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) a day ago, another representative from the film fraternity, Urmila Matondkar, joined Congress on Wednesday.
Matondkar, 45, was a prominent film star in the 1990s. However, she has not been seen much in mainstream Hindi film for several years now.
She is known for her roles in films such as Rangeela, Mast and Bhoot.
The actress also met Congress chief Rahul Gandhi.
On Tuesday, actress-turned-politician and close associate of former Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh, Jaya Prada joined the BJP.
The 17th Lok Sabha election will begin on Apr 11 and end on May 19. The counting of votes will take place on May 19.
