After being barred for 4 weeks, Bhim Army Chief Chandrashekhar granted permission to re-enter Delhi

New Delhi/IBNS: A Delhi Court on Tuesday allowed Bhim Army Chief Chandrashekhar Azad to return to the city on fulfilment of certain conditions after he was barred from entering the national capital as a part of his bail arrangements.

The Tis Hazari court had last week granted Chandrashekhar Azad bail on grounds that he won't be allowed to enter Delhi for the next four weeks.

However, on Tuesday, it modified its order and said he could re-enter if a schedule of his movements in the city is submitted to senior police officers including DCP (Crime), at least 24 hours prior to the same, said reports.

Hailing the court's decision, Azad called it a "victory for the Constitution".

Azad declared that he would now attempt to stop BJP, whom he accused of trying to "tear the country apart", from forming the government in Delhi.

"I welcome the court's decision. This is a victory for the Constitution," he said in a video statement, adding, "I can now visit my brothers and sisters in Delhi... who have been waiting to see me. I can listen to their troubles and try to help them."

"The BJP government at the centre that is trying to tear this country apart.. should not be allowed to form the government in Delhi. I am coming to stop them from winning the election," he further added.

Azad was arrested on Dec 21, a day after Delhi witnessed huge protests over the new citizenship law.

The Bhim Army had then staged a massive protest against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019, near the Jama Masjid in Delhi.

He was granted bail last week after the court said the Constitution guaranteed his right to protest peacefully.
