Agra: Road mishap leaves one person dead, 16 others, including foreigners, hurt

Agra: One person was killed and 16 others, including six foreign tourists, were injured in separate accidents on Yamuna Express in Agra due to dense fog on Tuesday, police sources said here.

Police sources said that the first incident took place near Sarendhi crossing on Agra-Jagner road when a van collided with a dumper.

"The van driver was killed on the spot and eight others were injured. The condition of the injured, who have been admitted to the hospital, is stated to be serious," they said.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed grief over loss of life in the incident and conveyed his sympathies towards the bereaved families.

He has directed to ensure proper treatment of the injured.

Police sources said that the second accident took place near Manth toll when a tempo traveller carrying foreign tourists collided with a container due to dense fog.

"Eight people including six foreign tourists were injured in the accident," they said.

Police sources said that the foreign tourists have been identified as Louis (58), Andria (56), Carla (60), Katy (22), Rhonda (52) and Pole (53), all residents of New York.

"Driver Subhash and Harpreet Singh, both residents of New Delhi were also injured in the accident. The foreign tourists were on their way to Taj Mahal at the time of the incident," they said.
