Ahead of SC hearing on Article 35A, J&K braces for two-day shutdown

Srinagar, Aug 5 (IBNS): Ahead of the Supreme Court hearing on Article 35A, the state of Jammu and Kashmir is bracing for a 2-day shutdown, media report said on Sunday.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has said that it was ready for a debate over the contentious Article 35A of the Constitution, which guarantees special status to permanent residents of Jammu and Kashmir.

On Saturday, the valley witnessed protests across several places.

The separatists' groups called for a two-day shutdown in the state demanding that Article 35A should not be scrapped.

The apex court will on Monday hear the petition challenging  Article 35A of the Constitution.
