Kolkata/IBNS: Ailing former West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, who was admitted to a hospital on Wednesday, is "conscious and alert" but "still remains critical", a health bulletin said.
Bhattacharjee, who was admitted to a hospital with respiratory problems, is still on ventilator.
The medical bulletin said, "Sedation has been stopped; he is conscious and alert. His Blood pressure, pulse and oxygen saturation is stable."
The bulletin added, "He had an uneventful night in the hospital and his prognosis is still guarded and he still remains critical. Treating doctors are keeping constant vigil on his health situation and taking appropriate measures from time to time."
The CPI-M veteran, who is away from active politics for years over his illness, was admitted for treatment of acute exacerbation of his respiratory problems.
Bhattacharjee had tested negative for Covid-19.
