Ajit Pawar thanks PM Modi, says 'We will ensure a stable govt in Maharashtra'

Mumbai/IBNS: Rebel Nationalist Congress Party leader Ajit Pawar, who was yesterday made the Deputy Chief Minister in the BJP-led Maharashtra government, on Sunday thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and 17 other BJP leaders in a series of tweets.

"Thank you Hon. Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji. We will ensure a stable Government that will work hard for the welfare of the people of Maharashtra," tweeted Pawar.

Yesterday, BJP had dished out a midnight stunner with the swearing-in of Devendra Fadnavis as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra and Ajit Pawar as his Deputy, giving a blow to Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray's aspirations to rule the state for the next five years after Congress and NCP spoke of their support after dilly-dallying for nearly a month.

The NCP leader, who was among the top newsmakers on Saturday, took to his twitter handle to thank the BJP leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, , Home Minister Amit Shah, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, and others.

In the midst of a series of developments that led to his elevation to Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra and removal as the NCP's head of the legislative party, Ajit Pawar changed his twitter bio to "Deputy Chief Minister, Maharashtra, Nationalist Congress Party Leader".
