Akhilesh Yadav rejects Amit Shah's claim on new medical colleges

Lucknow, July 28 (UNI): Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday questioned the claims made by Union home minister Amit Shah about the new medical colleges set up in UP after the BJP came to power in March 2017.

'The government must come out with the specific facts and state where the new 17 medical colleges have been constructed. The government should also clarify whether the power generation and supply has increased in same proportion as the hike in power tariff," the SP president said on Twitter.

Addressing the second ground breaking ceremony, Mr Shah said in 'Sankalp Patr' for the March 2017 UP Assembly elections, the BJP had promised to set up 40 new medical colleges.

He said 17 colleges were in various stages of construction while 15 were in pipeline.

Amit Shah on Sunday inaugurated the second ground breaking ceremony for launching of 250 projects entailing investment of Rs 65,000 crore.

Mr Yadav later in a statement charged that the ground breaking ceremony was a spectacle where people were being misled and taken for a ride by the Yogi Adityanath government in the name of such ceremonies.

He also sought an account of investments made in the state.

"The BJP government is merely enacting drama, one after another. On Sunday, the third function was held after the investor’s summit and first ground-breaking ceremony. They are yet to tell how much investments have come and how many industries have been set up in the state," he said.

The SP president was referring to the second ground-breaking ceremony on Sunday for projects worth Rs 65,000 crore, for which MoUs were signed during the UP Investors' Summit in February 2018.

"The reality is that the BJP government has totally failed to attract investment. It is repeatedly taking names of those who had invested during the SP government," said Akhilesh Yadav adding 'neither any investment nor any new industry has been set up during the BJP government.

On CM Yogi Adityanath's stated target of making the state a USD one trillion economy, he said that there is no law and order worth in the state and the BJP has no interest in infrastructure development.

"Under these circumstances, how will investments come to the state?" he said.
