Allahabad to be called Prayagraj now
Allahabad, Oct 16 (IBNS): Uttar Pradesh Minister Siddharth Nath Singh on Tuesday said that Allahabad will now be called 'Prayagraj'.
The minister confirmed the matter after emerging from the cabinet meeting.
The plan was reportedly cleared in the meeting.
"Allahabad to be called Prayagraj from today," the Ministers told media.
The change of the city's name has earned mixed response online.
Congress leader Keshav Chandra Yadav remarked: "Would changing the name of Allahabad make it a Smart city ?Playing Name game for another divide and politicizing issue for personal benefit... What an idea sir ji."
