Amarnath Yatra to commence from June 30
Jammu: The annual Amarnath Yatra of 43 days will be starting from June 30, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said on Sunday.
"The 43-day holy pilgrimage will commence on June 30 with all covid protocols in place and culminate, as per the tradition, on the day of Raksha Bandhan,"he stated.
Sinha, who is also Chairman of Shri Amarnath Shrine Board chaired a board meeting here at the Raj Bhawan.
"We had in-depth discussion on various issues also on upcoming Yatra," he added.
Meanwhile, official sources said that Shri Amarnath Shrine Board will begin online registration for the pilgrims from the month of April and per day, nearly 20,000 pilgrims can register themselves on the official website.
RFID based tracking will also be done for the vehicles and the pilgrims, informed an official.
A Yatri Niwas with a capacity of more than 3200 pilgrims is being constructed by the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board at Chanderkote in Ramban district.
The pilgrimage remained suspended for two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
