Amid COVID-19 cases spike, UP govt announces lockdown from Friday night till Monday morning

Lucknow/IBNS: With the coronavirus cases in Uttar Pradesh spiking up, the state government will impose lockdown across the state for three days, starting at 10 pm on Friday.

The lockdown will continue till 5 AM of July 13 (Monday), during which only essential services will be allowed in the state, the government said.

All offices, markets and commercial establishments will remain closed.

However, trains will continue to operate and the passengers will be able to use special buses to reach home.

Factories in rural areas have been exempted and will continue to operate.

Work on roads, that is highways and expressways, will also be on during this period.

Uttar Pradesh recorded more than 30,000 cases of coronavirus and 845 deaths so far.
