Amit Shah to meet Nitish Kumar tomorrow to discuss seat sharing for LS poll

Patna, July 11 (IBNS):  Amid speculations over differences between the two parties, BJP president Amit Shah will hold discussions with JD(U) leader and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar during his visit to Patna on Thursday, media reports said.

The talks to be held over breakfast and dinner will be held to reach a seat-sharing agreement for 40 Lok Sabha seats in the state for 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

According to a state BJP release, Mr Shah will arrive in Patna at 10am. From the airport, he will proceed to the state guest house where he will "have breakfast with Nitish Kumar and other senior leaders".

"After hectic day-long activities, Mr Shah will have dinner at the chief minister's official residence," the release said.

According to CNN-News 18, leaders from both sides are hopeful that the differences will be resolved when Nitish Kumar and Amit Shah will sit together.

BJP spokesman, Sambit Patra, who was in on Monday, accepted that Nitish Kumar was naturally the leader of NDA in Bihar as he was heading the coalition being Chief Minister.

The NDA which had won 31 seats in Bihar, faces problems with claims and counter-claims being made by leaders of the constituents after JD(U) returned to its fold.

Old partners -- BJP, LJP and RLSP -- had won 22, 6 and 3 seats respectively while JD(U) which had fought separately with the Left parties had managed only two seats in the last parliamentary poll.

With the return of JD(U) to the NDA, the fresh allotment of seats among partners without making them unhappy seems to be an important task.

On Monday, Nitish Kumar made it clear that his party's alliance with the BJP was limited to Bihar. He, however, asserted that the question of his party becoming a part of an anti-BJP alliance elsewhere did not arise.
