Andhra Pradesh Cabinet approves cash transfer for power tariff to farmers
Amaravati/UNI: Andhra Pradesh Cabinet, which met here chaired by Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, approved the cash transfer to the farmers for disbursement of electricity tariff for their agriculture pump sets, construct two more reservoirs across the river Krishna and banning of online gambling and betting.
The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet approved the proposal of direct cash transfer to the accounts of farmers to pay electricity tariff for their agriculture pump sets under the ‘Direct Benefit Transfer Scheme’.
Informing the Cabinet decisions to the media here on Thursday, Minister for I&PR Perni Venkatramaiah said that all agriculture power connections would be regularised and no connection would be removed.
He said that power would be provided to the farmers for Rs.2.50 per unit and taking steps to implement the free power supply to the farmers for 30 to 35 years. "Rs.49,600 to be spent to provide power supply to each farmer," said he.
“The direct money transfer to the farmers for the disbursement of their power tariff will be implemented in Srikakulam district as a pilot project from April 1, 2021. The government is spending over Rs.8,000 crore for providing free power supply to the farmers," he informed.
The AP Cabinet approved the banning of online betting games by amending AP Gaming Act 1974. If anybody found guilty of playing an online game, he would be sentenced for six months and the organiser would be sentenced for one year if the new Act is enforced.
The Cabinet approved for the construction of two new reservoirs downstream to the Prakasham barrage across the river Krishna.
One barrage would be constructed at a cost of Rs.1,215 crore at Chodavaram village in Penamaluru mandal near here and another reservoir would be constructed at Hamsaladivi village in Mopidevi mandal in Krishna district at a cost of Rs.1350 crore.
The Cabinet also approved the Detailed Project Report for the construction of a lift irrigation scheme at a cost of Rs.1,273 crore to provide irrigation water to the villages located in Veldurtim Bollapalli and Durgi mandals in Guntur district and it also approved in principle the construction of Babu Jagjivan Ram Sujala Sravanthi project phase II.
The Cabinet has given its nod for the construction of lift irrigation projects in Visakhapatnam, Vizainagaram and Srikakulam district at a cost of Rs.15389.80 crore to impound 63.2 TMC of water.
The Cabinet also approved for the formation of Andhra Pradesh State Development Corporation Limited (APSDCL) by giving nod to the GO No MS 80.
