Army chopper crashes in Arunachal Pradesh; pilots missing

Guwahati/IBNS: An Indian Army chopper has reportedly crashed in Bangjalep village under the Dirang Police Station area in Arunchal Pradesh, police said.

According to sources, an army chopper with two pilots had taken off from Senge village at 0900 hrs on Thursday and was en route to Missamari ETA 0945 hrs.

However, it lost contact midway and could not be located.

At 1230 pm villagers from Bangjalep informed the police that a crashed chopper had been located.

The chopper had caught fire and was still burning when the villagers brought the incident to the notice of the cops.

Search and rescue teams of the army, SSB, and police have rushed to the spot.

No footage or images of the crash have been received as the area has no signal.

The area where the crash occurred is engulfed in thick fog and visibility is 5 m, sources said.

The whereabouts of the two pilots are still not known, sources added.
