Asom Gana Parishad names candidates for two remaining LS seats

Guwahati, Mar 30 (UNI) The Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), which is an ally of the BJP-led coalition in Assam, has announced its second and last list of candidates for the ensuing General Elections.

The party has named Jawed Islam as its candidate for Dhubri Parliamentary constituency and Kumar Dipak Das for Barpeta seat.

The names were declared late last night by party leader and MLA Ramendra Narayan Kalita following a top brass meeting of the party leadership at AGP president Atul Bora’s residence here.

The party, which is contesting in three seats in the state, had earlier named Manani Madhab Mahanta as its candidate for Kaliabor seat.

Under the seat sharing arrangement between the ruling coalition partners in the state, BJP is contesting in 10 seats, AGP in three and Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) in one seat.
