Guwahati, May 14 (IBNS): Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Sunday inaugurated a RO based multi coin and smart card operated filtration system, ‘Water ATM’ in Dibrugarh district.

The modern and first of its kind Water ATM in the state is being installed by Dibrugarh Public Health Engineering Department in joint association with district administration and Kadamoni Water Supply Scheme Management Committee at Kadamoni Water Supply compound.

The RO based Water ATM has an inbuilt capacity of producing 1K litre water every hour. Consumers can obtain water from this plant through cashless manner only by utilizing their smart cards. On every transaction, consumers can collect 20 litres water at a cost Rs 10 only.

Interested persons can avail the benefit of this service by registering their names in the consumer database.

Following which they will be provided with a smart card. Once the card is recharged, consumers can collect water as per their requirement.

On each transaction, the card will show the balance amount and water entitlement.

However, registration of consumers is not a mandatory provision for utilizing services of the Water ATM.

Unregistered consumers can also obtain water from the plant by using the smart card available with the caretaker of the system.
