Assam elections : Priyanka reaches Assam, visits Kamakhya temple, dances with tea tribe girls

Guwahati/UNI/IBNS: Congress star campaigner Priyanka Gandhi Vadra reached Assam today morning on a two-day visit to the poll-bound state.

Soon after landing at Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi international airport in Guwahati, the Congress leader paid a visit to the historic Kamakhya Temple, located at Nilachal Hill in Guwahati

She was accompanied by senior Congress leaders in Kamakhya temple.

“I had been thinking of visiting Kamakhya Temple for long and it was fulfilled today. I prayed to the goddess and sought her blessings for my family. I also prayed for the welfare of Assam and people of the state,” Gandhi told media persons at the temple.

Meanwhile, she took part in the Jhumur dance with some tea tribes girls in Assam’s Lakhimpur district during her two-day visit to the poll bound state.

During her two-day visit to the poll-bound state, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will visit few districts of Northern Assam.

She will take part in several pocket meetings with tea garden women workers, Self Help Group (SHG) members and will also address a public rally.

The Congress leader visited Sonari Gaon panchayat in Lakhimpur district and met Congree leaders of 10 Northern Assam and Upper Assam districts.

She will also visit the birthplace of Srimanta Madhabdev at Letekupukhuri in Lakhimpur district to pay her homage toKanaklata Barua statue at Gohpur in Biswanath district and will interact with the tea garden women labourers and Self Help Group (SHG) members.

On March 2, Priyanka Gandhi will visit Sadharu tea estate in Biswanath district and will interact with the tea garden women workers.

She will also go to Mahabhairav temple at Tezpur in Sonitpur district and will address a public rally at Tezpur.
