Assam flood : Death toll rises to 84

Guwahati, July 27 (IBNS) : Despite the improvement of the flood situation in Assam, over 21 lakh people across 17 districts in the state are still affected by the calamity.

The death toll has touched 84 now.

According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), one person drowned in flood waters in Barpeta district in past 24 hours.

1,716 number of villages in 56 revenue circles and 1,14,938 hectares of crop land are still under water.

Presently, 615 numbers of Relief Camps are operational in Baksa, Nalbari, Barpeta, Chirang, Bongaigaon, Kokrajhar, Dhubri, Kamrup, Morigaon, Nagaon, Golaghat and Jorhat districts with 99,659 inmates and 49 Relief Distribution Centres in Sonitpur, Barpeta, Kokrajhar, Kamrup and Morigaon districts.
