Assam flood : Three persons died, 1.4 million people affected
Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) said in its report that at least three people were died in worsened flood in the state on Thursday including two in Tinsukia district and one in Dibrugarh district.
As many as 13,78,540 people of 2199 villages under 74 revenue circles in 19 districts are affected in the fresh flood in the north eastern state.
Another 2,19,250 people are affected alone in Barpeta district of lower Assam following 1,50,141 in Dhemaji, 1,43076 in Darrang, 1,37,390 in Dibrugarh, 1,28,499 in Nalbari and 1,26,535 in Sonitpur district.
More than 1,76,559 hectors crop area were submerged by flood waters in Dhemaji, Kokrajhar, Bongaigaon, Sonitpur, Barpeta, Goalpara, Morigaon, Cachar, Lakhimpur, Jorhat, Tinsukia, Darrang, Baska, Nalbari, kamrup, Dibrugarh, Sivsagar, Golaghat and Nagaon districts.
District administration of badly affected districts have set up 385 relief camps, where 2,66,908 persons have taken shelter.
Water levels of Brahmaputra and its tributaries have crossed danger level mark in many places in the state following incessant rains in past few days across the state.
On other hand, flood waters submerged at laest 67 forest camps in Kaziranga National Park.
“We have taken all necessary measures to protect wild animals including one horned rhinoceros during the flood,” an official of the park said.
