Assam: Police apprehend two smugglers along with rhino horn

Guwahati: Police arrested two smugglers and recovered a rhino horn in Assam’s Jorhat district.

Acting on a tip-off, a police team of Jorhat district on Sunday night launched an operation at Teliapatty area in Titabor Sub-Division in Jorhat district and apprehended persons while they went to the area for selling a rhino horn.

The police team had recovered a rhino horn weighing about 1.158 kg in possession from them.

The apprehended persons were identified as Rajen Bauri and Azizul Rahman.

A senior police official of Jorhat district said that, the market value of the recovered rhino horn is estimated at around Rs 1.50 crore.
