Assam Rifles recovered Foreign Origin Cigarettes worth Rs 2.34 crore in Mizoram's Champhai
Champhai: Aizawl Battalion of 23 Sector Assam Rifles, under the aegis of Inspector General Assam Rifles (East), recovered 78334 cases of Foreign Origin Cigarettes worth more than Rs 2.34 crore in general area Khuangphah in Mizoram's Champhai district.
The operation was carried out by a team of 2 Assam Rifles on specific information.
Approximate cost of the recovered foreign origin cigarettes is worth Rs 2,34,72,900 as the Custom Department Champhai seized the contraband items for further legal proceedings.
Ongoing smuggling of Foreign origin cigarette is a major cause of concern for the state of Mizoram, especially along the India-Myanmar Border.
