Assam: Second consignment of Covid-19 vaccines reaches Guwahati
Guwahati/IBNS: The second consignment of 36,000 doses of Covid-19 vaccines for Assam reached Guwahati on Wednesday.
An Indigo freighter from Hyderabad brought the second consignment of three boxes (each box containing 12,000 doses) from Bharat Biotech for Assam had arrived at Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) airport, Borjhar in Guwahati on Wednesday morning.
On Tuesday evening, Assam had received the first consignment of Covid-19 vaccines.
The first consignment of 2.40 lakh doses of Covishield vaccine for Assam and Meghalaya had landed at LGBI airport in Guwahati.
A total of 20 boxes having vaccines close to 2,40,000 doses was delivered at Guwahati airport out of which 17 are for Assam and 3 for Meghalaya and each box has 12,000 doses of vaccine.
Ramesh Kumar, Airport Director, LGBI Airport Guwahati said, "It’s a proud moment for all of us at AAI Guwahati that we, at North East India, have received the first batch of COVID vaccine. It is always a pleasure to be a part of such an important task for the country.
"We are hopeful that AAI in coordination with our stakeholders and partners, will effectively deliver vaccine doses to all state governments."
Assam has identified 74 centers across the state for Covid-19 vaccination drive.
The state has identified around 1.5 lakh health workers who will be vaccinated in the first phase.
