At BJP key party meet, pledge to form govts in Bengal, Kerala, Tamil Nadu

Hyderabad: The BJP will form governments in Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Kerala, Odisha, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh soon, the party said in a resolution passed in the National Executive meeting in Hyderabad on Sunday.

The resolution indicates the BJP is set to make a renewed attempt to penetrate these states where it has been most difficult to secure a mandate to form a government.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who proposed the resolution, said the next three to four decades will be the era of the BJP and India will become a "Vishwa Guru" (World Leader), Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said in a press briefing.

He emphasised that the string of BJP wins in elections and bypolls proved people's endorsement of the BJP's politics of "development and performance".

On murders in Rajasthan's Udaipur and Maharashtra's Amravati over controversial remarks on Prophet Mohammed, Shah said such incidents would end once "politics of appeasement" is eliminated.

He called for ending the politics of family rule, casteism and appeasement and asserted that BJP will finish dynastic rule in Telangana and West Bengal and also form governments in Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Odisha among others.

Shah also hailed as "historic" the recent Supreme Court verdict dismissing the plea of Zakia Jafri, the wife of killed Congress MP Ehsan Jafri, challenging the Special Investigation Team's (SIT) exoneration of then chief minister Narendra Modi, in the 2002 Gujarat riots case.

He said PM Modi maintained his silence while facing the investigation over his alleged role in the 2002 Gujarat riot case and kept his faith in the Constitution, drinking poison like Lord Shiva.

The BJP leader also took a jibe at Congress for allegedly trying to spread anarchy while its leader Rahul Gandhi was summoned to the Enforcement Directorate's head office in Delhi in the National Herald case.

Shah added that PM Modi never resorted to that kind of "drama".

He further said that Congress had become the party of a single family - the Gandhis - with many leaders fighting for democracy within.

Shah claimed that the Gandhi family is not allowing the internal organisational elections as it is afraid of losing control over Congress.

He also slammed the opposition, saying that it was disjointed and blindly opposed anything that the government did for the welfare of the country.
