At least 10 pilgrims killed in temple stampede in Madhya Pradesh

Satna, Aug 25 (IBNS): At least 10 pilgrims, including five women, feared killed and over 60 injured in a stampede at a temple in Madhya Pradesh’s Satna district on Monday, reports said.

The incident took place in early morning as people, mostly devotees, thronged the famous Chitrakoot temple at Kamtanath on the occasion of Somvati Amavasya. Police officials fear the number of dead and injured in stampede could further mount.

The state administration also announced a compensation package of Rs. 2 lakhs for the family of the deceased victims and Rs. 50,000 for the injured.
