Atiq, Ashraf killing: Internet services paused, heavy security deployed as tension grips UP's Prayagraj

Prayagraj: Internet services were suspended on Sunday to prevent rumours and any untoward incident after Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf were shot dead by three assailants posing as media persons on Saturday night.

Atiq Ahmed and Ashraf were being taken to Calvin Hospital for a routine check-up on Saturday night.

In the meantime, three attackers posing as media persons shot several rounds and killed both.

In this incident, a reporter was injured, and another policeman was also injured by a bullet. After the incident, the situation in the city is tense.

Internet services have been suspended to avert rumours from spreading.

Sources said that many areas of the city are sensitive.

Additional police forces have been called in from nearby districts in the city for security.

PAC and RAF personnel have been deployed along with the local police.
